Hearing the crowd roar

Mass Eye and Ear’s 25 years of care for David Griffin’s serious hearing condition helped him pursue his dreams as a professional pitcher in the Banana Ball Championship League.

For David Griffin, pitcher for the Indianapolis Clowns in the Banana Ball Championship League, every sound of the game is a reminder of how precious it is to hear the world around him.

Born with cholesteatomas, benign tumors in the ear that can cause permanent deafness if left untreated, David has spent years overcoming serious hearing challenges. He has trusted Leila Mankarious, MD, and the team at Mass Eye and Ear for more than 25 years, and thanks to their transformational care, he can live out his dreams.

“Mass Eye and Ear is still the only place I trust for my condition,” David says. “To Dr. Mankarious, my care team, and everyone who supports their work… from the bottom of my heart, I can’t thank you enough.”
